The Gonfrier family brought the Marquis de Bern to life 25 years ago, with the aim of enabling connoisseurs of Bordeaux's great terroirs to enjoy quality wines, representative of the finest terroirs, while remaining accessible.

Who is the Marquis?
The Marquis de Bern is a fictional character inspired by the history and values of the Gonfrier family. The title of Marquis reflects his freedom of conduct with his vineyards and his independence from the sovereign.
It owes its name to the location of its main winery overlooking "l'île du Grand Bern", right in the heart of Rions: a magnificent medieval village with a rich feudal history, 25 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux.

Plots
With nearly 145 hectares cultivated along the slopes of the Garonne, the Gonfrier family's wines come from both their own plots and those of 45 partner winegrowers.
Hydric stress
The parcels that make up Marquis de Bern are selected according to their capacity to enter a phase of hydric stress more or less easily, in order to offer smooth, well-balanced wines.
Vision
The Marquis de Bern embodies a precise winemaker's vision of Bordeaux, emphasizing expert blending of emblematic grape varieties and meticulous ageing, all in the constant service of wine quality. To achieve this excellence, the Marquis surrounds himself with a team of dedicated oenologists and technicians throughout the year, keeping a watchful eye on the development of his wines.

Son service consommateurs est joignable par téléphone et également à votre disposition au sein du caveau pour répondre à toutes vos questions sur place.
